Pakistan women mark UAE National Day with creative event
With the aim of strengthening bonds between Pakistan and the UAE, the ladies forum of the Pakistan Association marked UAE National Day by bringing together around 500 women from different nationalities at the National Day Ladies Gala 2019 held at the Pakistani Auditorium over the weekend. The idea behind the programme that was held under the theme ‘Raised in Friendship’ was to bring together women of different communities and empower them by giving them an opportunity to use their skills and put out stalls of handcrafted items of different countries.
From handmade items to trendy accessories and books, women put up around 40 creative stalls of apparels, handicrafts, Pakistani art pieces and painting, live calligraphy and henna designing corners. Apart from this, books; jewellery; makeup; and Prophetic medicines were also available. Games and a variety of live cooking stalls and home-cooked food items added to the charm of the gala. The event saw hundreds of women from different communities visit and shop from 11am until 3pm.
The event was inaugurated by Shiekha Farida Kamber Al Awadhi, chairperson, Emirates Business Women Council who was accompanied by PAD’s executive committee member Leila Aljassimi. They were welcomed by a group of young girls and boys, wearing traditional Pakistani and Emirati outfits and given a tour of the stalls that they enthusiastically visited, appreciating the women entrepreneurs for their creativity.
Dr Aiza Ali Khan, president of the Ladies forum, said: “This national day gala was organised with a two-fold mission, one was to strengthen our relationship with this beautiful country by joining in the National Day celebrations. And secondly to involve the community and support women entrepreneurs in the cottage industry and micro businesses. The proceeds of the event will go to the community welfare fund of PAD. As a part of Pakistan Association Dubai family, ladies forum is playing a vital role in society. Through the endless hardwork of our team and support of our members, we are positive we can guide and lead women, the architects of the society, towards a bright future.”
